This just in from my intern, Nicole Lonero:
Tuesdays, white tents always line the edges of Copley Square for the summer farmer’s markets held there — filled with vegetables, breads and even desserts.
But yesterday was different. Along the never-ending row of tents, only one fluttered with the excitement and attention of many.
Why? John Mellencamp [...]

One of Andover’s favorite sons came home last week to receive the key to the town. Later he had a party at the trendy restaurant Glory.
Here the “Shield” and “Fantastic Four” star is flanked by Glory owner Adrienne Pappadopoulos and Charlie Fotopoulos from Lowell.

Local-born celeb, Saturday Night Live alum Amy Poehler and her husband Will Arnett stopped by the new Kiehls Store in Burlington earlier this week to celebrate its opening.
Kiehl’s president Chris Salgardo gave Poehler checks for three local charities — the women’s shelter Rosie’s Place, the cystic fibrosis unit at Children’s Hospital in Boston and the [...]

Wow. What a great movie.
I was a fan of the show, in all its HBO glory. I thought network TV watered the raunchy out of the series on the WB/CW a bit much.
The movie bridged the two styles well, in a story that tied into the show well while also standing on its own.
I won’t [...]

What will happen? It’s anyone’s guess. My colleague Paul will be there, covering it for Pop.
He’ll be posting his thoughts here tonight after the show, and perhaps some pictures later on.

Mariska Hargitay people.
I thought last night’s show was the best “American Idol” ever, possibly the best concert ever.
I mean, pairing David Cook and ZZ Top? Totally brilliant.
Almost every moment of the show worked, from the performances of the Top 12 with stars like Donna Summer and (OMG!) Bryan Adams to the video presentations | from [...]

Working on a story about those hard to find Red Sox wines (like Vintage Papi and Schilling Shardonnay).
Recently, I attended a launch party for this year’s wine line up — all the players’ proceeds go to charity.
Our staff photographer Katie McMahon shot this photo of me and Jason Varitek — there to promote his Captain’s [...]

Beyonce and Jay-Z took in a Celtics game last night in Boston. They were spotted (and photographed) by staffer Tim Jean.
Rob Lowe, shooting a film locally here in the Merrimack Valley, was also in attendance — unfortunately not in the front row, like the newlyweds.
According Tim, the pair — rooting for Cleveland (ouch) didn’t seem [...]

I love Kathy Griffin.
For this reason, I was totally excited to see her perform last night in Lowell, Mass. The comedian did back to back shows, with barely a rest in between.
Her act was a typical one for Griffin | telling the audience tales from her life in Hollywood.
However, I was particularly amazed by the [...]

The brothers of “Mmmbop” fame are headed to the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom this week.
I have to confess, I interviewed them during the early years (the late ’90s). At the time, I remember thinking they were a little precocious. But in talking to Zac Hanson about where the band is today — and all the [...]

Raine Maida, best known for his gig fronting iconic Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace, has branched off on his own and created the record he was always meant to make. The Hunter’s Lullaby, set to hit on August 26th (Kingnoise Records) is a collection of 10 commanding songs that are poignant and [...]

An interesting tidbit from a press release I received today:
JibJab, the online entertainment studio that shattered viral video records with its political parody “This Land” is now offering users the chance to put themselves and their friends into hip-hop megastar Snoop Dogg’s latest video, “Sensual Seduction”.
With JibJab’s ‘Starring You!™’ technology, users can upload their photos, [...]

I have a friend who calls cooking shows “food porn” and I have to say — she’s totally right.
I’ve watched people make amazing dishes on these TV shows. I think the point is to get you to make it yourself at home.
I think I’ll stick to toast — and perhaps my specialty — burnt scrambled [...]
