Gender Equity on the Supreme Court – Is it Really Irrelevant?
Apr 30th, 2009 by tarakirstenk posted in The Legal Satyricon
Recently in Slate magazine, Dahlia Lithwick wrote a compelling piece arguing the high demand for a more gender balanced court. I don’t necessarily agree with some of her language–words such as gender are problematic as a result of socially constructed ideologies, but I do agree 100% with the article as a whole .

My first thought after leaving “Spring Awakening” was — how cool is it that this show came to Boston in the spring? When trees and flowers are just beginning to show signs of life?
My second thought — what the heck can I say about this show on my family-oriented Web site/ blog?
How do I talk [...]
Sorry I didn’t post sooner, I went to see “Spring Awakening” tonight (Wednesday).
Only had one chatter on Tuesday, so didn’t feel like I was throwing a wrench into anyone’s plans.
If you did miss my witty banter (hey, I try) I will be slaving away at my computer next week during both Idol shows, promise.
Happy Day!- That’s the standard Brenda Malloy greeting.

I went down to the Rocky Neck Marine Railways as things are getting busy there. The usual painting going on as the fishing vessel “Miss Sonya” gets a new coat. But up on the “ways” was the tug “Bath” from Boothbay Harbor,Maine. She was built in 1908,four years before the launching of HMS Titanic! And there was a 2800 horse power monster…..”Codzilla”! “Codzilla” screams around Boston Harbor

Artist Michael D’Antuono was scheduled to publicly unveil his painting (pictured below) in New York’s Union Square Park this morning, to commemorate Obama’s 100th day in office. However, due to “thousands of emails and phone calls; online blogs and other public commentary received in the first 48 hours following its release”, the [...]
As is bound to happen when a knitting book is published, errors surface once the book is published. For this reason those of us who have written such books include an “errata” section on our web pages. Last night I became aware of the first errata in The Mermaid Shawl & other Beauties thanks to an email from a knitter. On page 13 the First Lace Chart — the Fin Lace — is misleading. The pattern itself is correct but it fails to make note of the fact that there is a purl stitch on either side of the pattern. This is done to give it definition. Therefore, I’ve corrected the chart as follows:
I have re-created the page in PDF format and it can be downloaded by clicking here: Page 13 PDF. It is also now on the Mermaid Shawl web site under Errata. Thanks to Elizabeth for pointing this out.
Leslie and I have been talking lot about working together on some workshops and she asked me to design a postcard that she can take with her to all the workshops that she has scheduled. I cn’t keep up with her. But this is the postcard she will be passing out:
And, finally, I got an email from Elann.com yesterday and they are interested in selling the book on their site. I am thrilled.
Life has gotten so interesting! One of the most thrilling things is that sales of my two works of fiction, The Old Mermaid’s Tale, a novel, and my short story collection, My Last Romance & other passions, have suddenly picked up, too. I could not be hppier bout tht.
Thanks for reading.
