Shiny Happy People

Us reporters are really pleasant folks. After the final buzzer sounded yesterday, one Dallas-based reporter turned to another in the TD Banknorth Garden press room.
“Let’s go autopsy the corpse.”
Anyway, here’s my take from the blowout. It’s about Rajon Rondo.
So here goes:
BOSTON — So what if his jump shot is as soft as a porcupine. Rajon [...]

HIT IT EDDIE!!!

The headline is courtesy of the guy sitting behind me, who apparently is the treasurer of the Eddie House Fan Club.
Mr. Ed has eight points.
Somehow, the Celtics have improved their torrid shooting this quarter. It was 66.7 percent in the first, as of 4:04 in the second, it’s 68.4. They’re 9 of 11 from 3-point [...]

It’s a snoozer so far

With 6:50 remaining in the second quarter, the Celtics are up 56-31. ZZZZZZZZ……….
Their jumpers are falling. And hey, Nomar Garciaparra’s in the house! Stop the presses!
Pathetic showing by the Mavs so far. They look ready for bed.

NBA Jam style

The Celtics are ON FIRE here at the Garden. They shot 66.7 percent in the first quarter and built a 38-23 lead.
Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen each scored 11 points.
Once again, Rajon Rondo is quietly controlling the tempo. Time and again in the first, he hit open shooters, who haven’t missed much. Rondo also has [...]

Bing bang boom

Anyone who says this guy is losing it as a player is crazy.
Kevin Garnett just made a layup, stole an inbound pass from Dirk Nowitski, unsuccessfully tried to dunk, got fouled by Nowitski, made the first free throw, missed the second, Rajon Rondo grabbed the rebound, who dished back to Garnett, who then drained [...]

Even Steven so far

Neither team has been able to separate itself so far.

“Man it’s so cold.”
Mavs point guard Jose Barea — who starred at Northeastern — isn’t exactly liking the winter weather.
Or maybe he’s just not that excited for what he’s about to face. The once-struggling C’s are on a seven-game win streak.
“They’re certainly back now,” Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said.
Not much going on here. [...]

I have a column in today’s Eagle-Tribune where I select the top 10 Boston (really Massachusetts) sports icons.
I got the idea from ESPN.com with their Mt. Rushmore segment, where readers select their top four sports icons from each state.
You can check out the story here.
Here is my list, in descending order, without the explanations that [...]

It’s a big deal!

Yeah yeah it’s a regular season game. But tonight’s Celtics-Magic matchup could be a great one.
This guy thinks so.
Will Stan Van Gundy hear a few boos tonight? This is what he told the Orlando Sentinel today:
“If this were the BCS, I’d have to be lobbying,” he said. “In the BCS, an undefeated team doesn’t get [...]

Real World: Brooklyn

In case you missed last night’s episode, it was all about the early crushes and romantic entanglements of the roommates on the series.
While a lot of time was spent on the romantic intensions of Baya and Ryan, the episode also focused a great deal on our local celebrity, Scott Herman.
Devyn, the house’s former Miss America [...]

More locals get into the act . . .

It looks like the film “Bride Wars” tapped a lot of local talent.
In addition to this Merrimac woman, and this cake maker, we’ve got two others confirmed in the film.
This is just from their mom, Nancy Chippendale, the legendary local dance teacher:
My daughters from North Andover, (Mass.,) Kelli & Kristina Carberry were in the movie [...]

I’ve had a few requests for these, so enjoy.

Spoiler: The dress is her mom’s . . . . and there are others in this episode.
