Weekend Picks

get-attachment-2aspx2

Still my top choice for the weekend, Rockport’s Harvest festival – rain or shine – promises extraordinary local, autumn fun:  Featuring great New England foods, a seafood throwdown with local favorite Laurie Lufkin vs. The Emerson Inn,  a bloggers summit certain to educate and entertain (Yes, our very North Shore Bloggers Consortium participating), HarvestFest will be a warm, happy destination. (If it’s cold and windy we’ll share bowls of Roy Moore chowder and Willowrest cider donuts under the 90 ‘ white tent on T-Wharf.)  Live Music, too.

What else would you do this weekend?

And  Saturday night Rockport’s Rotary Club offers Wine with a Beautiful View:

Rotary Wine Tasting at Shalin Liu Performance Center

The Rotary Club of Rockport is holding a major fund raiser, a Wine Tasting, at Rockport Music’s Shalin Liu Performance Center Reception Hall on Saturday, October 16th from 5:00-8:00 P.M.  The public is invited. Donation is thirty dollars and tickets are available at the Rockport Music Box Office on 35 Main Street or phone 978-546-7391.Tickets are also available from a Rockport Rotarian, at the Club’s web site, www.rockportrotary.org, or purchased at the door. The proceeds benefit the Rockport Rotary Club’s Community Service Projects.

International Wines Featured, Live Music, Tour and More

Join members of the Rotary Club of Rockport for an enjoyable evening of wine sampling, hors d’oeuvres, chocolate and the live piano accompaniment by Rick Ives. A tour of the Shalin Liu Performance Center will be held from 6:00-7:00 P. M.

Eight wine vendors and importers are participating in the event. A selection of one hundred and twenty U.S. and international wines will be featured. Kathleen Erickson, Seabreeze Liquors Wine Manager, will be available for consultation.  Cape Ann Brewery will provide a sampling of beer and spirits will be available to sample from Ryan & Wood, Inc. Distilleries.   Louis Linquata owner of Seabreeze Liquors in Gloucester coordinated the vendors and selections.

Enliven your palate by choosing from a large selection red, white, rose, and sparkling wines to sample and an array of cheese, fruit, hors d’oeuvres and chocolate.

The proceeds from the Wine Tasting will go to support the Rockport Rotary Club’s community service projects. A wide variety of projects receive support: the Rockport School Department: Scholarships, Assistance with Student Trips and DECA, Purchase of Library Software, Sponsorship of an International Exchange Student; Boy Scouts; Camp Rotary; Cape Ann Symphony; Open Door; Pathways for Children; Rockport New Year’s Eve; Shelter Boxes for Haiti; and Valentine’s Day Luncheon for Senior Citizens. These are just a few of the projects that benefit from Rotary support.

The Wine Tasting coincides with Harvest Festival Weekend. Join Rotary members at the Shalin Liu Performance Center for an enjoyable evening that gives back to the community.
