I’ve had a number of very nice emails lately from readers who discovered my books thanks to Google Books. Things like this always come as a surprise to me because, while I love writing, I’m pretty bad at promoting my work. I’m good at promoting other people’s work but not so with my own. So, following Google’s example, I’ve decided to put samples of my work online for any reader interested in having a read.

The page has actually been there for awhile but I didn’t have it linked anywhere except here on the blog. I’ve updated my web sites to contain the link and I offer them here to you. This “Stories” page offers:

- The first chapter of Each Angel Burns
- The short story Flynnie & Babe from My Last Romance & other passions
- The short story Homemade Pie & Sausage from Level Best Books’ 2006 anthology of crime fiction, Windchill
- The first chapter of my novel The Old Mermaid’s Tale

So I hope you will take the time to have a look and maybe do a little reading. It’s summer — maybe you’ll get a taste of your next beach read…

Thanks for reading.
